Tried and True: Tappo

Every city has restaurants you want to go back to again and again, and you love each visit just as much as the first. Tappo is one of those restaurants. Simply put, it checks all the boxes. Downtown location + classic Italian food + extensive wine list = ultimate foodie happiness.

Tappo is a clear birthday dinner favorite among my friends. And hey, it’s a popular spot to celebrate for a reason -- they have yet to disappoint.

Spaghetti and Meatballs at Tappo Restaurant

First-Timer Recommendation: Traditional Spaghetti & Meatballs for $15

If you’ve never been (or even if you have) you can’t go wrong with this classic dish. Prepare yourself for a generous portion complete with golf-ball-sized meatballs. Sauce is everything, and this one is doing it so right. This sauce is rich, a little spicy, very herby, and sweet but not too sweet.

Goat Cheese Crespelle at Tappo

My Personal Recommendation: Goat Cheese Crespelle for $16

In all honesty, I have no idea how many times I’ve been to Tappo (aka A LOT). If you frequent Tappo as much as or more than me, it’s time to switch it up and try something new. If you are questioning it, don’t. This dish is 100% worth it. The red and white sauce meet together to create this beautiful blend of saucy, cheesy heaven topped with fresh banana peppers aka it’s perfection on a plate.

Wine Recommendation: $16 bottles

I’m a Pinot gal myself, and my personal fave is the Pinot Grigio Delle San Rafael. Ordering a bottle, or few, of wine at Tappo *should be* required. At $16 a bottle, you really can’t go wrong if you’re sharing… and even if you’re not. No judgement here.

Overall Recommendation: Make a reservation ASAP.

Come hungry, but seriously be prepared to ask for a to-go box. Don’t skip the specials because there’s always something new worth trying.
