There is nothing like watching a summer sunset on a patio by the water while you're sitting next to a fire with your favorite drink in your hand. We know this because that’s exactly what BDC members got to do Thursday at Dos Amigos on the Lake.
One of the most striking things about Dos Amigos is its back patio. There are three levels two it. The first is nestled next to the building, under the roof’s overhang. It has a high vantage point so you can people watch or enjoy the amazing view of the water. It’s also equidistant between both Dos Amigos’ indoor and patio bars, so that’s definitely a plus.
The second level of the patio is down a few stairs and comes complete with a full bar lined with stools on three sides (read: short wait for drinks) and a fire pit with cushioned chairs and benches. There are tables along the side where you can eat or relax with your drinks and high, wooden picnic-like tables that have an amazing view of the water.
The third level is down another few stairs and is ideal for lounging. It’s the closest to the water and has big, comfy patio chairs scattered across it in groups. If you’re looking for a place to lounge around and drink a few margaritas, this is the ideal spot.
There’s a stage area perfect for live music, too! Last Thursday, singer Ben Clifford serenaded BDC members through our cocktail hour and dinner. Talk about the perfect way to pass an evening.
Members who love AC as much as beautiful views weren’t left out. Anyone who chose to eat dinner inside could eat in temperature-controlled comfort and watch the sun set out of the huge windows overlooking the water.
If the ambiance isn’t enough, Dos Amigos has the surf and turf menu of your dreams. A flaky wild mushroom puff pastry, a marinated scallop crudo or a beautifully layered beet terrine was the perfect way to start the meal.
The chefs outdid themselves with the main course, though. The pan-seared scallops flake apart and practically melt in your mouth and their savory braised beef cheek with wild mushroom and ramp risotto strikes the perfect balance of staying light enough to eat on a warm summer night and filling enough to let you order that extra cocktail. The crispy braised chicken thighs were crunchy and juicy and the Harissa roasted cauliflower “steak” was spiced to perfection.
For dessert, the bumbleberry buttermilk upside down cake was served with a healthy serving of fresh berries, and the banana bread pudding came out still warm. Is there anything better than that? We don’t think so.
The Fun Doesn't Stop
