SOHO Buffalo: From Night Club to Upscale Dining Destination

Standing on the corner of Chippewa and Franklin is a two-story building who’s interior, patio and balcony are frequented and loved by Buffalo’s late-night crowd. In fact, Soho is so well-known that anyone would be crazy to call it up-and-coming, but just one bite of the recently rebranded restaurant’s food, and any guest will know that this is a favorite dinner spot in the making.

Last Thursday, Buffalo Dinner Club members headed to the recently rebranded Soho Buffalo - known to many simply as Soho - to check out the upscale dining experience that the restaurant is soon to be known for.

Included in each guest’s ticket price was a three-course meal and a glass of wine, but the fully-stocked bar also touted a range of spirits and beer to make any happy hour patron happy. During happy hour, some BDC members broke the ice by talking about the Olympics which were playing on some of the televisions above the bar while others sat and chatted with friends over their drinks.

The real party full of decadent flavors and beautifully prepared dishes started when happy hour was over, though. Guests chose from a first course menu of bacon wrapped dates, an iceberg wedge salad, beef brisket quesadilla or steamed littleneck clams in a red pepper sauce.

The main course was really where the chef’s skills were able to shine with 6 oz filet of sirloin that melted in diners' mouths paired with cheddar mashed potatoes loaded with flavor, slow roasted short rib with wild mushroom salad and roasted potato, chipotle barbecued airliner chicken with sides of corn salsa, cheddar mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables, and blackened catfish over red beans and rice.

For dessert, BDC members enjoyed a classic - a slice of strawberry shortcake with a fresh sweetness that was a perfect cap to the meal, regardless of which menu combination diners chose.
