Last week, Buffalo hosted Ribfest, and this Sunday, August 6, Vegetables will be in the spotlight at VegFest WNY hosted in LaSalle park.
The festival will kick off at 9:30 a.m. with the biggest Tofurky Trot in the US! Pre-registered participants in this run will receive a t-shirt and all runners can enjoy vegan snacks and drinks at the finish line. Prizes will be awarded for top finishers and best costume, so be sure to dress in your best tofurkey gear!
After the run, vendors and exhibitors will have booths set up showing some of Buffalo’s favorite vegan products. A full list of vendors and exhibitors can be found on the festival’s website. Families are encouraged to attend and participate in children’s activities taking place throughout the day.
There will also be several speakers like competitive, natural vegan bodybuilder Geoff Palmer talking about vegan sports nutrition, and animal rights advocate Lee Hall who will give a speech titled Cuteness, Memes, and Animal-Liberation Imagery: A Slideshow and Discussion, among others. A full list of speakers as well as short bios on each can be found on the festival’s Speakers page
Don’t forget to bring your favorite vegan food items to donate to the Food Not Bombs food drive. Food Not Bombs is a national organization that provides healthy, vegan meals for the hungry as well as protesters and striking workers and provides food relief after natural and political crisis.
